Athletic Hall of Fame Guidelines

Section I: Purpose
The purpose of the Northwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor
those Northwood High School athletes, coaches, administrators and volunteers who excelled in
their respective sports or coaching/support roles. This recognition will help maintain the spirit,
pride and sense of community, as well as serving as a historical account of the great athletic
traditions of Northwood High School.

Section II- Organization
The Northwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame will be a project of the Northwood High
High School Athletic Department and Administration. The Northwood High School Athletic
Hall of Fame will honor the new inductees annually at the Hall of Fame Game.

Section III- Committee
The Selection Committee will be appointed by the Northwood High School Athletic Department
and the Northwood High School Administration. The Selection Committee shall consist of:
A. Northwood High School Athletic Director
B. Northwood High School Principal or his/her designee
C. Two (2) Community Members
D. Two (2) Northwood Coaches (Varsity Level Only)
E. Beginning in 2018 – 2 Members of the Northwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame

Every effort will be made to insure equitable representation from all areas of athletics, ethnic
backgrounds and gender. Members shall be charged with approving final inductees for the
Northwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Selection Committee position E, will serve amaximum 4 year term on the Selection Committee. Every effort will be made by all the Selection Committee members to keep information confidential through the Hall of Fame selection
process.

Section IV- Selection Criteria
The Selection Committee will choose inductees based on the following criteria:
A. Contributions to the Northwood High School Athletic Program as a student-athlete,
coach, administrator or volunteer. 
B. Graduation from Northwood High School at least four (4) years prior to nomination.
C. Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for current Northwood High School
Students.
D. Nomination form received no later than July 15 of the inducting year.
Section V- Nominations
Anyone may recommend any eligible individual for consideration as a nominee. Each
nomination shall be accompanied by information regarding the achievements of the individual
being nominated. Information is to be supplied on the official Northwood High School Athletic
Hall of Fame Nomination Form. The Nomination Form shall be available electronically on the
Northwood Athletics website and in hard copy in the main office. All such Nomination Forms
shall be maintained by the Selection Committee and are to be submitted no later than July 15th
of each year.

Section VI- List of Candidates
The list of candidates shall contain the names of all individuals who have been recommended
and remain eligible for consideration as a nominee by the Selection Committee. The list of
candidates shall contain other information as shall be relevant for consideration by the Selection
Committee including sport(s), position(s) played, year of graduation and notable achievements.
If not inducted within five (5) years after receiving of the most recent nomination, an individual
shall be removed from the list of candidates. There shall be no limit on the number of times an
individual may be nominated to the Northwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Section VII- Number of Inductees Annually
The Selection Committee shall not be required to induct any individuals for the Northwood High
School Athletic Hall of Fame for the current induction year. There shall be a maximum of ten
(10) inductees for the 2017-2018 inaugural year. Following the inaugural year there shall be a
maximum of six (6) inductees in any one (1) year.

Section VIII- Voting Process
Any nominee must receive unanimous consent from the committee for selection into the
Northwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Section IX- Induction
Individuals approved by the Selection Committee shall be inducted into the Northwood High
School Athletic Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held at halftime of the Hall of Fame Game. A
plaque recognizing inductees will be displayed in a prominent location (TBD) at Northwood
High School.

Section X- Amendments
Amendments and modifications of these rules may be made by a unanimous vote of the members
of the Selection Committee present at any meeting.
